Introduction
This resit guide provides targeted advice to give you the skills needed to resit your Case Study exam, and the confidence to get you back on track as soon as possible. The guide allows you to easily find resources specific to your needs, all in one document.
Before you start working through this guide, let’s consider three things:
Reflect on why you may have been unsuccessful with your previous exam. If you know why you were unsuccessful, you are already on track to succeed at your next attempt. For example, if you didn’t allocate enough time for study or question practice, you know you’ll need to do this before your next attempt. Not exactly sure why you were unsuccessful? You can start by reviewing examiners’ feedback in the Study Support’ section of the FLP platform, which addresses the most common errors candidates make in exams. For Case Study examinations, a better understanding of how marks are awarded would be extremely useful (both are addressed in the later sections). If you’re still unsure, consider speaking to a Registered Tuition Provider and have an expert tutor review your work.
Book your resit. If you haven’t already booked your resit, we recommend doing so as soon as possible. Having a date to work towards helps you plan your studies, focus revision time and prepare for a successful resit exam.
Don’t give up. It can be disheartening to miss out on passing your first exam attempt; however, in the long run, this is just a minor delay in achieving your career goals. Continuing your studies shows resilience — a characteristic employers highly admire. There may be moments in your future career where you’ll mentor or train others; again, the empathy you’ll have obtained from this whole experience will be invaluable.
We wish you well with your upcoming examinations and look forward to welcoming you as a CGMA® designation holder in the near future!
